“A Year of Terror” – A Halloween-ish Horror Short Story Written by Stephen Kaplan

January 1st

It started with a knock. It was four in the morning and there was a knock on the door. Ordinarily something like that wouldn’t have even made me stir, never mind actually wake me up. There was something odd about this knock, it was much louder than a normal knock. Even weirder is that it was just a single knock. No rapid tapping, no door bell, no “shave and a haircut” knock, just one single house-shakingly loud knock.

I immediately sat up, feeling hungover from the night of partying and debauchery, thinking that maybe it was one of my friends who just needed a place to crash. I got out of bed, wrapped a robe around myself and proceeded to the door. When I opened it, to my surprise there was no one there. I looked around but the street was dead. The whole neighbourhood was dead in the chilly winter night.

Did I imagine the knock? Was it part of the dream I was having? Did I take too long to answer the door and they left? I swear, it wasn’t more than a minute from hearing the knock to getting to the door. Oh well. I decided to go back to sleep.

Top 10 Best Songs from the “Very Potter Musical” Trilogy

Now if you know anything about me you’ll know that I really like the Harry Potter franchise (despite some flaws here and there) and you’ll also know that I’m a theatre guy. So all those years ago when I discovered “A Very Potter Musical” (AVPM) I was blown away. It was hilarious, it was well-acted, the songs were really catchy and all-around it was just a lot of fun. It was clear that it was made by fans of the Harry Potter series, for fans of the Harry Potter series. Continue reading “Top 10 Best Songs from the “Very Potter Musical” Trilogy”

New Year’s Resolutions Part Two: The Revenge

Man, it’s been a while since I last posted on this blog. Which is funny because I started last year’s New Year‘s post pretty much the same way.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or whatever holiday you celebrate. I know I had an awesome Chanukah. I got movies, books, video games and two really amazing autographed pictures (well one’s technically a poster).

Army Signed
“Army of Darkness” poster signed by Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi.
Tyrion Signed
Tyrion Lannister picture signed by Peter Dinklage.

I also hope you all had a fun-filled New Year’s Eve. Speaking of New Year’s, let’s talk resolutions.

Last year I gave myself several different resolutions to try to stick with, so let’s find out how well I did. Continue reading “New Year’s Resolutions Part Two: The Revenge”

Something New Coming August 5th

So I’ve almost had this blog for a full year. That’s pretty exciting.

This blog has gone through a lot since its beginning on August 19th, 2013. I had started with the intention of having a new blog post every Monday…forever. For the rest of my life I would make sure that there was a new blog post about my life every Monday. Well, suffice it to say that didn’t happen.

Instead, I had kept it up for a while but eventually ran out of really good material fairly quickly. My life just isn’t all that exciting, apparently. Continue reading “Something New Coming August 5th”

Things You May Have Missed in the Show “Friends”

Things You May Have Missed in the Show “Friends”

The ten year anniversary of the show’s finale happened earlier this month and I thought it would be a good time to list off a few things that I’ve noticed (or thoughts that I’ve had) from my countless viewings of the show that other people may not have noticed. This isn’t a top ten list as there’s no particular order for these things (and there also aren’t ten things on this list), it’s just a regular list.

So let’s begin: Continue reading “Things You May Have Missed in the Show “Friends””
